Inspired Meditation

There are lots of blog entries I need to catch up on. They´re currently sitting in my edit post files waiting for their turn to be finished. Sitting in front of a computer just doesn´t seem to be the right thing to do when I have this beautiful country to explore. However - I do have some inspiration right now and feel it is important to share.

A friend of few good friends is going to through a tough transformation right now. It was started a few days ago when this healthy, loving 31 year old had a stroke. Rather than attempting to re-tell the story, here is a link to the blog that tells her story: http://www.shanbow.blogspot.com/

Upon reading this story - I felt a huge pouring of love from me to her and the wonderful people she has surrounding her during this time.

Most of you know that I have been travelling around Peru since the start of October. Peru is a diverse ecosystem, with many energetic power spots. I haven´t been doing as much yoga as I thought I would in my travels. What I have been doing is meditating everywhere! If you look at the photos Craig´s been taking, it´s me meditating over and over again. I just can´t think of anything else to do in these places! I´ll add pictures when we get home.

We are currently in a place called Haucachina - it is literally the largest sandbox I have ever played in in my entire life! Last night I read all about Shannon just before a really great crew of us set off to have a bon fire on the dunes.

When you hike up and over the dunes, away from the lights and sounds of the town, you get to this place where the horizon is sand dunes the size of mountains. Sunset unveals the glory of the heavens. I melt into the sand. Stars are twinkling. I feel small in relation to the universe. I begin to move into a yoga practice, the first real practice of our trip... I move away from the crew into the shadows of the bon fire, far enough away that all I can hear is nature and the sounds of my breath and heart. My practice is one of devotion, I feel myself aligning with the Universe and tapping into the raw power of the Desert, the Cosmos, and the Universal Life Force that pulsates through it all. It feels as though the love that flows through each heart opener could travel the globe. I felt so grand after the practice, instead of the small feeling from the beginning, I felt as though I was as larger than the world, that I could see everything clearly, that I could think of one person (like my mom) and just go sit with her energetically, even though I was on the other side of the world. The globe seemed so small in relation to the Universe. I finish my practice with one of the most powerful Savasana´s I can remember.

When I rejoined the group all I could think of was Shannon and I asked my group if they would be interested in participating in a meditation. I told them what I know of Shannon´s story. I shared with them Leisa´s account of Shannon pointing at the two girls telling them she was grateful (gaft) for them. Then I lead them through a heart oriented meditation and asked them to share some of their love with her. One of the feelings I got when I was meditating was that energy knows no distance and the power of love in healing is endless... There was no doubt in my mind that the love vibes would make it to her.

In a nutshell... here´s how the meditation went...

Start by getting comfortable, whether its seated or laying down it doesn´t matter. What matters is that the area around your heart is open and facing out into the universe. Start by focusing on your breath, letting thoughts or worries float away (a fairly easy task when you´ve been travelling for a while). Realizing that thoughts are always floating though your mind, try to bring our attention to that which you love, what ever it is that fills your hearts with love. So much so that your heart begins to warm up and glow. With no parameters of time attached, take that warm glowing love feeling and send it out to Shannon and her support team, eventually bring attention back to your own loves. Let that pulse. I felt the group energy growing. It was really cool. The final element to the Shannon inspired meditation is to bring attention to that which we were grateful for. The silence during this meditation was so strong.

I think anyone could do this. It´s great to be able to do this practice in nature, but anywhere works! The more love and gratitude we have in this world, the better place it will be. If everyone that reads this sends a little love to Shannon, it will go along way!

I must get back out to play now :)

With all the Love and Gratitude in the world,

Jana
