Today, a National Holiday to Remember those who fought and died in the wars past.
This morning, Craig and I took our dog, Grace, for a walk. We entered Starbucks at around 11am. It was buzzin' in there! Literally, not an empty seat in the house and a long line-up of people waiting. The Barista had just passed me my to go mug filled with a yummy Chai Misto. As I held it close to my nose to smell the yummy, spicy goodness, that same Barista, in an assertively loud voice says:
"Excuse me. We'll all observe 2 minutes of silence please."It took only a few seconds for everyone to clue in to what's happening. A few people make funny faces, a few whispers ensue, but alas - the whole place became quiet. Not only quiet - but everyone was still. I'm absolutely amazed at this place that is always buzzing, filled with so many different stories playing out at once - pause, still and silent. I close my eyes and Remember.
A few long breaths before the Barista's timer goes off to release us of this magical moment of still silence - a man walks in the door on his cell phone, I open my eyes to see. He's shocked, confused and amazed all at the same time. The look of bewilderment on his face is priceless... "Why are all these people frozen in time?" He freezes too.
How cool?
This week, I knew I would be teaching yoga today - so I took time to reflect on what Remembrance Day is to me. Staying true to the history of the day; honouring the men and the families who fought and died and were effected by the war, while celebrating the freedom that we all experience living in Canada, I began to question.
What if we started to use this day as a day to create a new future? A future where Freedom is the norm. Where peace and love reigns the lands. Where there are no borders, no separation between races, religions, beliefs or politics. Where everyone is so loving, kind and accepting of the diversity of us all. Thoughts become things - so let's use the day to remember that we create our experience here in this life.
A day when we take time to remember our greatest reason for Being. Why did your Soul chose to come here, in this life as Human to walk this path, at this time, in this place? How lucky are we to be alive? These are Auspicious times we live in. Times of great transformation - that we are all co-creating! When we were pure Spirit, before manifesting this body to live this physical life, we had a reason. A mission. What is your mission? What is your greatest purpose for (Human) Being? We take time to remember our Truest Self. This life is Sacred... May we always Remember the big picture and create lives filled with love, happiness, abundance, freedom and most of all peace.
